2022 EBVNC subs unchanged

At this week’s Annual General Meeting, EBVNC confirmed, that for the second year running, club fees will remain unchanged for the next season.

Given a second year of local impacts from a global pandemic, the Executive Committee unanimously agreed to not impose club increases on next season’s subs for Sandy, CDNA and SFNL players.

Club Elections

The AGM (held on November 10) included the election of the club’s key office bearers with Murray Collins returned as club President.

The results of the AGM election were:

President - Murray Collins

Vice President - Anne Le Blanc

Secretary - Pip Scarff

Treasurer - Caly Price

In accordance with the constitution, the Minutes from the meeting will be sent to Consumer Affairs Victoria.

President’s Report

Murray acknowledged the committee who, for a second successive year, have risen to the challenge of navigating the club through lockdowns and cancellation/return to training/play.

The club is indebted to our committee members for going above and beyond during a challenging, testing and, at times, exhausting year, on top of the challenges of the previous year. Members should not underestimate the commitment of our committee, who are all 100 per cent volunteers”, said Murray.

He also welcomed new head coach Tilly Branch who was recruited from within the membership and now joins the Executive Committee.

We welcome Tilly to the role and look forward to her contribution. At the same time, we thank Emily Higgins. Emily co-founded this club, first as the Brighton Sparks and then as East Brighton Vampires Netball Club. In addition, Emily co-founded the award winning All Abilities program and has ensured All Abilities members are now integrated in the match day management at Thomas Street. Emily will continue as a parent coach.

“On behalf of the club, we thank Emily for everything she has done for this club and for netball across Bayside,” Murray said.

Treasurer’s Report

Caly Price confirmed the club continues to be in a sound financial position.

Community Partners

Club Community Partners, White Rabbit Restaurant, Brighton Spine and Sports Clinic, and the Sneaker Store, Brighton, were thanked for their ongoing support in what has been another challenging year.

President’s Award 2021

Congratulations – you are a winner! The 2021 President’s Award has been awarded to all members of the club to recognise members’ loyalty during two years of lockdowns, restrictions and challenges.

Lockdowns have been hard on all members, one way or another, and a lack of sport has prevented many players with the opportunity to shine, and socialise. All our committee members deserve an award for the tremendous job they have done behind the scenes. But given every member of the club has been tested, mentally and physically, by this pandemic, I am not going to award this year’s President’s Award to one single person. Instead, I am awarding it to all members of our club,” said Murray.

Five Year Hall of Fame

The AGM recognises those who have marked five years with the club. These who reached the five-year milestone include:

Alice Dove

Alana Marchese

Maddy Fricker

Ella Church

Tilly Branch

Grace Bonnano

Amelia Griffith

Chloe Challis

Sophia McDonald

Abi McCarroll

Sophie Paltoglou

Lola Poore

Zahra Tahan

Ele Penfold

We apologise to anyone we may have missed off the list.

Looking forward to 2022

Murray noted that Season 22 will be a reset year. The club cannot take for granted that things will be ‘back to normal’ and that regeneration for the committee, players and volunteers would be critical to the club’s future.

Firstly, the club is in good shape following an immensely challenging couple of years dealing with the local implications of a global pandemic.

“Secondly, coming out of the pandemic is a wake up and time for regeneration. I appeal to the next generation of parents, in particular those with kids in Under 11s and Under 13s, in Sandy and CDNA to carefully consider your contribution to the club. Put simply, if you don’t volunteer, this club will be significantly impacted,” said Murray.

Time to Party

To celebrate this amazing club, we are hosting a party for all members of Sandy, CDNA and SFNL. Keep an eye on our social media for details.

Save the Date: Sunday 5 December, 1pm-4pm at the Royal Brighton Yacht Club.

See you soon,

Murray
